Brief Profile
DIET Nahan is the premier institution of the Distt. imparting training to the Pre service as well as In-Service teachers. The foundation stone of DIET Sirmour at Nahan was laid on 1st July 1997 by the then Honourable Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Sh. Virbhadra Singh Ji. The purpose or role of DIET is multifaceted. It shoulders responsibility not only of preparing teachers out of students but to monitor Primary and Elementary Education for its quality education. Samagra Shiksha is also being executed by this institute. The Deputy Director (Quality) is being designated as ex officio District Project Officer (Samagra Shiksha).

Various Schemes and Citizen Oriented Programs
- To improve learning outcomes this department has been imparting training to Teachers at Primary and Upper Primary level.
- The Secondary Schools( GHS and GSSS) in the District have been equipped with state of the art technology computer systems under ICT school Project to provide quality education.
- The Virtual Lab facilities have been provided to 20 Sr. Sec. Schools in the District with facility of video conferencing.
- RAA (Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan) is an initiative started by the Ministry of Education with the aim to make science and mathematics education in schools interesting and meaningful while promoting curiosity and creativity among children. 86 Secondary Schools and 33 Primary Schools are being covered in Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan.
- Every year about 8000 SMC members are being trained in order to improve school infrastructure as part of community participation in the schools.
- Two KGBV hostels have been established at Shillai under Samagra Shiksha for Girls students belonging to SC/OBC and General BPL families. One Hostel is for Girls at elementary level where about 50 girl students are residing. One Hostel is for Girls at Secondary level where about 50 girl students are residing.
- There are 5 NRST Centres in the District which is providing 3 to 12 months bridge courses to the Out of School Children including Children from Gujjar Community.
- The CwSN students from Pre-Primary to 12th class are supported through Inclusive Education for Divyang (IED). Under Samagra Shiksha there is provision for: the Girls stipend, Escort allowance, Aids and appliances and Therapy camps for CwSN with 21 bench mark disability. Home Based Educations is also provided to CwSN.
- Pre-Primary Education is being started under Early Childhood Care & Education. In District Sirmaur Pre- Primary classes are running in two kinds of setup: Anganwadi co-located with Primary Schools and Pre-Primary running in Primary Schools Premises. Out of 327 Schools, 3 are under PM SHRI Schemes.
- DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) is an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, designed to provide a digital platform for teachers, students, and parents. All the Govt. Schools in District Sirmaur are covered under DIKSHA.
- Youth Club and Eco Club have been constituted in all the Govt. Primary to Senior Secondary Schools. This provision has been made in Samagra Shiksha for government school students to have fun and be productive while meeting with friends and to make a positive impact on their local community and the world.
- NIPUN BHARAT Mission (National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy). This mission was launched in July 2021. Its objective is to provide the quality education to the students of class first to third.
- Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) are hands-on innovation spaces within schools, part of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), a program by NITI Aayog. Their goal is to encourage creativity and foster a “do-it-yourself” Mind-set among students, helping them develop 21st-century skills. In District Sirmaur Atal Tinkering Labs are established in 40 Schools.
- The Vocational Education was introduced in Government Senior Secondary Schools of Himachal Pradesh under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) during the 2013-14 academic sessions. At present, District Sirmaur has a total of 158 vocational schools comprising 125 existing schools and 33 newly approved schools. A total of 15 vocational trades are being offered, with 268 vocational trainers actively engaged in delivering vocational educational education across the district.
- Training on Career Guidance & Counselling is being provided to the Secondary School Teachers by DIET Sirmaur.
- Awareness programme of Drug Abuse are being run under Samagra Shiksha. The Block level Anti-Tobacco campaign centres are established in all 15 Education Blocks.
- To assess the quality of Education, surveys related to all aspects of education are conducted by Samagra Shiksha under R&E intervention so that efforts can be made to improve the quality of education.
- Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSP) is a flagship initiative launched by Govt. of India in 2015 to promote National integration. Two States are paired with each other across the country. H.P is paired with Kerala to promote understanding of culture, tradition and language.
- PM SHRI Scheme- It is a centrally sponsored initiative launched by Govt. of India on September, 7th 2022. Himachal Pradesh is covered in 2nd phase. In Sirmaur 14 Schools (11 GSSS and 3 GPCS) have been selected under PM SHRI Scheme. Its Primary objective is to transform these 14 existing schools across the Sirmaur into Model Schools.
- Training on Career Guidance & Counselling is being provided to the Secondary School Teachers by DIET Sirmaur.
- For implementing the Samagra Shiksha this District has been divided into 15 Educational Blocks. The Block Resource Centres have been established at each block. The Block Project Officer(SS) look after the functioning of Programme at the Secondary Level and the BEEOs look after the functioning of Programme at the Elementary Level.
